Tuesday afternoon past, Shirley and I visited Thomas and Gabriella. I had promised Thomas a hand putting up his christmas ‘trees’ out on an external landing. This could be done through the open window using Thomas’ well thought out procedure. Shirley gave me a ride from Anderson station, in part because she had never seen the new condo to which my friends had moved now already 8 years ago.
We had a good social with tea, yes and mostly good conversation. I talked mainly with Thomas as he sat by himself in an easy chair, where I joined him sitting on the edge of the piano bench. Gabriella and Shirley talked all that time while at the kitchen bar. Thomas broke his pelvis bone in a fall, which has him confined to his condo, though things are improving slowly.
Tuesday was also shopping day at Safeway’s, where I spent fifty dollars in the morning and one hundred after supper on a second trip in the evening. I also read in Fukuyama’s “Political Order and Decay” closing in on the end, of the book that is; not political order, although there is much disorder on the planet.
Yesterday morning at 9:30am I was at the ‘Prow’ library to experiment with the video camera in the video studio.
Yesterday morning at 9:30am I was at the ‘Prow’ library to experiment with the video camera in the video studio. I explored all the controls on the Sony FDR-AX33. The library staff had supplied a sheet of very useful operating instructions for the camera, tripod and microphone. Its cable is not yet plug compatible, but that will come.
I managed to make four trial recordings with and without sound, all in focus, which is automatic. I managed to play them back on the camera and also so later on my own computer using my chip reader. During a short coffee brake I discovered that the Rode NT-1 mic needs a usb feed cable as required by the Sony camera. I left around 11:15am to make my way to the Knox noon time meeting, where we met with a small group of about five people, with Referent Dave in the lead.
Now 9:31am after coffee with John and planned lunch with Herman and Don later. For now I continue below under Writings.
